Christian Ministries:
Kawkawlin Community Church participates in annual community outreach projects including, but not limited to:
Good Samaritan Rescue Mission dinner – One Saturday in the fall, our church takes over the GSRM kitchen to cook and serve the evening meal for the residents. A supervised craft time entertains the children and a short worship service is held afterwards. KCC has traditionally distributed winter hats and gloves to all the residents at this time each year.
LifeClinic Baby Bottle Drive – KCC devotes one month each year to collecting change for the Baby Bottle Drive in support of Beacon of Hope Pregnancy Care Center. Beacon of Hope assists women in carrying their pregnancies to term and provides emotional support and practical assistance such as free pregnancy tests, abortion alternatives, adoption and single parenting information.
Hope Totes – KCC concentrates on the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission’s Hope Tote campaign for most of the Lenten season. Hope Totes are made available to church members and used to collect donations of new hygiene products that will be dispersed to residents of the shelter to help them with self-care.
CROP Walk – usually held in the spring, our church members will register for our local CROP Hunger walk, raise funds, and contribute towards ending hunger once and for all.
Back To School Clothing Drive – we are proud to be a supporter of the United Way Back to School Clothing Program which allows low-income families to enroll their children to receive a new pair of shoes, pants, a long-sleeved shirt, a short-sleeved shirt, socks and undergarments. Our church takes a number of children from the program’s list and provides those children with the back-to-school clothing items they need.
Holiday Baskets – our church partners with the Bay County Emergency Food Pantry to supply Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Back-to-School food baskets to local families in need. Each holiday season our members donate enough food items to fill 20-30 baskets which are passed out during the holiday week.
Giving Tree – most years we work with the Salvation Army to provide gifts for Bay County residents who need help at Christmastime. The Salvation Army will provide us with families and ideas for gifts for each member and we set up a Giving Tree. Church members choose tags and buy gifts for the families which are then distributed by the Salvation Army.
Operation Christmas Child – we participate in Samaritan Purse’s shoebox outreach ministry each holiday season sending gifts and the gospel message to unchurched children around the world.
